DONALD COGLEY

Donald J. Cogley, 75, of 1419 Eighth Ave., Grinnell, died of Alzheimer's disease Saturday, Jan. 2, at St. Francis Manor.

A scripture service will be conducted at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Reynolds of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Casket bearers will be Chad Winters, Ben McFarland, Steve Arment, Larry Juhl, Dean Nowachek, Greg Reedy and Ron Reedy. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at noon Monday, and the family will be present at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.

He was the son of Dennis and Marjorie Smith Cogley, and was born May 30, 1923, in Grinnell. He was raised on farms near Tama and Newburg and attended Newburg School.

He was married to Mildred Mae Arment June 21, 1945, in Grinnell. They farmed for a few years, later moving to Grinnell. Mr. Cogley worked for many years as a machinist at Maytag Plant No. 1 in Newton, He also farmed, retiring in 1974.

Surviving are is wife; one daughter, Shirley J. Winters of Grinnell; two grandchildren; and three brothers, Paul of Arizona, Phillip of LaMirada, Calif., and Larry of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Allen, and two brothers, Jerry and Dennis.
