MR. EMMERT RITES TUESDAY

Everette V. Emmert, 82, of 134 East St., Grinnell, died Saturday, May 31, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Briggs, pastor of the Grinnell First Friends Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Organist was Alice Renaud. Pallbearers were Dale Emmert, Larry Iverson, Roger Iverson, Rick Peters, Pete Ross and Dave Waskow.

The son of Andrew and Leila Drew Emmert, he was born on April 3, 1904, north of Lynnville. He attended the Black Oak rural school.

On July 12, 1930, he was married to Elizabeth Luella Davis in Newton. The couple lived east of Searsboro, moving in 1934 to a farm northwest of Grinnell. In 1936 they moved to Grinnell. Mr. Emmert was a former director of the rural school district and was a member of the Poweshiek County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Marilyn J. Iverson of Rte. 2, Malcom, Carol J. Peters of Rte. 4, Grinnell, and Alice J. Kriegel of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Theodore of Sully and Earl of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lee and Louis; and one sister, Dorothy Baker.
