BERTHA LENORE LOFTIN

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma with Rev. H. Burr Bryant of the United Methodist Church officiating. Music was provided by vocalist Collin Raye singing selection "Love, Me." Also were selections "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." Casket bearers were Edward Snook, Duane Loftin, Roger Loftin, Eldon Snook, Larry Loftin and Mike Loftin. Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

Memorials may be directed to Midway Grange or Montezuma Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Bertha Lenore Loftin, 91, Montezuma, died Sunday, June 17, 2001 at the Montezuma Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born September 26, 1909 at Montezuma, the daughter of Mark Edward and Mary Alice (Gilbreaith) Snook.

On December 2, 1931, she was united in marriage with David Loftin at Rock Island, Ill. To this union two sons and one daughter were born, Glenn, Wayne and Barbara. They joined David's four children, David, Kenneth, Mary and William. The couple spent their life in Montezuma, where Bertha worked for the Montezuma Community School doing kitchen and janitorial duties.

She was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and Midway Grange.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David; two sons, Glenn and Wayne; a stepson, Kenneth; five brothers, Raymond, Lester, Mark, Hughie and Cecil; and five sisters, Sarah Snook, Rosa Loftin, Ida Simpson, Elsie Davis and Mary Collum.

Bertha is survived by her family, Barbara and Bob Brothersen, Aurora, Co.; Jean (Mrs. Wayne) Loftin, Beaverton, Ore.; Bill Loftin, Lakeland, Fla.; Mary and Larry Burnthorne, Loranger, La.; Esther (Mrs. Kenneth) Loftin, Lakeland, Fla.; and David and Freda Loftin, Zephyrhills, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
