MR. PEDERSEN RITES CONDUCTED

Lawrence B. Pedersen, 83, a retired attorney from Grinnell, died on Monday, Dec. 16, in Sun City, Ariz.

Mr. Pedersen had moved to Arizona after retiring from his law practice here in 1978.

He graduated from Grinnell High School and, in 1926, from Grinnell College. He taught high school at Johnson for two years, then moved to Washington, D.C., where he was married to Helen Alexander of Promise City in 1929.

Mr. Pedersen received his law degree from George Washington Law School in Washington, D.C. The Pedersens returned to Grinnell in 1945 with their two children, Sonya and Karen.

Mr. Pedersen was elected as county attorney in 1946 and served through 1950. He was a member of the Iowa Bar Association, the Grinnell Kiwanis Club and the Grinnell Library Board, among other organiztions. Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen were members of St. John's Lutheran Church and he served on the national board of the American Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Helen of Peoria, Ariz., two daughters, Sonya Margerum of West Lafayette, Ind., and Karen Pedersen of Arvada, Colo.; two grandsons; one brother, Leonard Pedersen of Grinnell; and a sister, Anna Holley, also of Grinnell.

Funeral services were conducted on Dec. 19, in Sun City.
