LOVING LIFE OF MRS. F.J. KIESEL REACHES CLOSE

Funeral services for Anna Louise Dengler Kiesel, wife of F.J. Kiesel, who passed away Thursday morning after weeks of critical illness following a stroke, were held Saturday afternoon at the Smith Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Leland W. Mann and Rev. Royal J. Montgomery. Interment is to be made later, following cremation.

Mrs. Kiesel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Dengler, was born Jan. 25, 1884, in Davenport, where she grew to womanhood and made her home until her marriage to Mr. Keisel in 1905. She graduated from the Davenport high school and also received private vocal instruction there, developing the fine soprano voice which was to give pleasure to so many people in years to come. Mr. and Mrs. Kiesel have made their home in Grinnell since their marriage.

She was a member of Chapter BM, P.E.O., the Congregational church, the auxiliary of the United Spanish War Veterans and the Drummond and Thursday clubs.

She is survived by her husband, a son Paul of Lincoln, Ill., and a brother, Fred C. Dengler of New Orleans, La.

Mrs. Kiesel lived a life of beautiful service, and was helpful in many activities. An ardent gardener, she worked with her husband in making their home at 632 Broad street beautiful with flowers and shrubbery and the Kiesel garden was known to garden lovers all over the community.

She was generous with her beautiful voice. For many years, until failing health forced her retirement, she was soprano soloist in the Congregational church choir and during all this period she was faithful in rehearsals and helpful in many special choir activities. She was much in demand, also, as a singer at funerals and her sympathetic rendering of the beloved old hymns brought comfort to many sorrowing hearts.

A woman of fine intellectual gifts and attainments, a loving home maker, dispensing freely the great gift of song with which she was so richly endowed, Mrs. Kiesel played her useful role in the life of her home community. Few have contributed more.
