RITES SATURDAY FOR MRS. DORA H. GRAHAM

Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Graham, 89, of Grinnell and former resident of Madison township, were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Grinnell Christian church with the Rev. Roy A. Coop, pastor, officiating. The Rev. Stephen J. Epler, associate pastor of the Grinnell Christian church, assisted. Mrs. David DeVilder of Brooklyn, a granddaughter, was organist.

Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Brooklyn with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers: David Abel, Bruce Bolen, Merle Burnell, Miles Clayton, Roger Clayton and James Lang. Flower attendants were also grandchildren. They were Alan Kleiss, Mrs. Don Larsen and Mrs. Harvey Pech. Memorials were contributed to the Dora Hayes Graham Memorial Fund.

Dora Hayes Graham, daughter of Oliver Perry and Sarah Land Hayes, was born June 20, 1874, near Wayland, Iowa, and died March 5, 1964, at her home in Grinnell following failing health for the last three years.

She moved with her family to Rands, Iowa, and later to Lohrville, Iowa, where she attended schools in those communities. She attended the Capitol City Commercial College in Des Moines and taught school in Rands for a time.

On February 27, 1895, she was married to Brownlie Graham at Rands. Eight children were born to the couple, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. Jeanetta Clayton Hartshorn, Mrs. Verner (Carrie) Bolen and Mrs. Burdette (Olive) Abel, all of Grinnell; Archie O. Graham of Montclair, Calif. and Mrs. Herbert (Frances) Kleiss of Brooklyn.

Mr. and Mrs. Graham farmed in Madison township for 53 years before moving to Grinnell 16 years ago. Mrs. Graham was a member of the Madison Church of Christ for 63 years and later transferred her membership to the Grinnell Christian church.

She is survived by her four daughters one son; 33 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Brownlie Graham, in 1951; three children, Paul Graham in 1942, Mrs. J. Russell (Agnes) Lang in 1958, and Mrs. Frank (Sarah) Burnell in 1963; one sister, Mrs. S.T. (Carrie) Miller and one brother, Martin Hayes. Three grandchildren also preceded her in death.
