GEORGE COCHRAN, FORMER RESIDENT, DIES IN ILLINOIS

Former Grinnellian George Cochran, 90, died on April 23 at Urbana, Ill., where he had made his home with a daughter. He had been in failing health for some time.

A retired farmer, he had resided in the Grinnell area for 40 years before moving to Urbana in 1961.

Graveside services were held at Woodlawn cemetery in Urbana on Sunday, April 25, with Dr. Oscar Jones, visiting pastor of First Methodist church there, officiating.

Born October 6, 1874, in Dean, Iowa, he was the son of Harvey and Rebecca McCoy Cochran.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Bergie) Atkinson of Urbana and Mrs. B.P. Stansberry of Azusa, Calif.; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Belle Holland of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two brothers, William Cochran of Stevensville, Mont., and Ira Cochran of Hardin, Mont.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter and one son.

He was a member of the Methodist church at Exline, Iowa.
