DENTON WILKINS SERVICES HELD

Denton E. Wilkins, 74, of Rte. 1, Grinnell, died of heart failure Thursday, Oct. 15, at his home.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with Ray Standerwick, pastor of the Westfield Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were DeLane Cizek, Jerry Edwards, Richard Halverson; Fred Haynes, Edwin Richardson and Edward Vesley. Burial was in the Westfield Cemetery.

The son of Edward and Belle Whitcomb Wilkins, he was born on June 22, 1913, in Jasper County. He attended rural schools and Newburg High School. He was married to Elizabeth Close on Dec. 4, 1937, at Unionville, Mo. Following their marriage they farmed in the Bethel community and later in the Westfield community.

Mr. Wilkins is survived by his wife; his sons, Jimmy and Robert, both of Grinnell; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harvey; and a half-sister, Lisa Krumm.
