RUTH NIECE RITES SATURDAY

Ruth M. Niece, 82, of Houston, Texas died Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Friendship Manor where she had been a resident since November 1985.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery there. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home here until 9 a.m. Friday, and thereafter at Fort Madison.

Memorials may be left at the Smith Funeral Home.

The daughter of George and Hannah K. Holmberg Wooten, she was born on Oct. 7, 1903, at Elmwood, Ill. She graduated from Elmwood High School.

On Dec. 24, 1921, she was married to Harry E. Niece at Henry, Ill., and the couple lived in Laura and Monmouth, Ill., before moving to Niota, Ill., where Mrs. Niece was a member of the Appanoose Presbyterian Church. She continued to live in Niota following her husband's death in 1967, then moved to Houston in 1980.

She is survived by her son, Grinnell Postmaster Harry Niece; a daughter Helen Reed of Houston; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, William T. Wooten.
