OLIVER COOK WAS FORMER MONTEZUMA RESTAURANT MAN

Funeral services for Oliver Cook were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Steffy Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Frank Jacobs. Mrs. Frank Mitchell played the organ numbers and accompanied Homer McDowell as he sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Saved by Grace."

Interment was in the IOOF cemetery at Searsboro. Casket bearers were Rex James, Fred Schmidt, Keith Arthur, Marvin Cook, Dwight Purdum and Marlyn Hall.

Oliver Cook was born in Malcom Jan. 14, 1903, and died at his home in Searsboro Feb.5, at 60 years of age.

He attended rural school near Malcom and Montezuma.

On June 6, 1928, he was united in marriage with Cynthia Hasley and to this union two children were born. Their son died in infancy and later they adopted a son.

For several years they farmed near Searsboro and Montezuma. They also operated a restaurant in Montezuma, and later, he worked for the ASC. Due to ill health, he retired last May and they moved to their present home in Searsboro.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Darlene, and son, Jimmie Lee, a half-brother, Floyd McGinn, other relatives and many friends.
