MR. HERBRANDT RITES FRIDAY

Ray B. Herbrandt, 62, of 510 Hamilton Ave., Grinnell, died Monday, Sept. 14, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud, and vocalist will be Ruth Ann Dayton. Pallbearers will be Ernest Blankenfeld, Gerald Cline, Edwin Fields, Frank Kester, Bob Saunders, and Gerald R. Schmidt. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Julius and Ethel Baird Herbrandt, he was born Feb. 22, 1925, on a farm near Montezuma. He attended rural school near his home.

On Dec. 31, 1953, he was married to Mary Lou Van Meter at Unionville, Mo. Mr. Herbrandt had been employed at the Donaldson Co. in Grinnell for 16 years. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1201.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald Ray Herbrandt of Valeria, two daughters, Ruth Marie Graff of Brooklyn and Joyce Anne Herbrandt of Grinnell; five grandchildren; a sister, Bessie Goeke of Tama; and one brother, Jim Herbrandt of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
