MARY HERBRANDT

Mary L. Herbarndt, 65, of 510 Hamilton Ave., Grinnell, died Saturday, Oct. 30, at the home of her daughter, Joyce Stier, in Killduff.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud, and pallbearers will be James Breeden, Pete Goodrich, Ryan Herbrandt, Paul Johnson, Bill McGinnis, Ed Roach, Brian Wilcox and Brian Van Brogen.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hazelwood Cemetery's tree-planting program.

She was the daughter of Roy D. and Alberta "Bess" Craven Van Meter and was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Newton. She attended Kellogg schools.

She was married to Ray B. Herbrandt Dec. 31, 1953, in Unionville, Mo. The couple lived in Grinnell where she worked as a cook for the Grinnell-Newburg schools.

Surviving are one son, Ronald of Valeria; two daughters, Ruth M. Graff of Brooklyn and Joyce A. Stier of Killduff; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Lela McGinnis of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandson.
