HATTIE GRUENHAUPT

Hattie J. Gruenhaupt, 97, of Waukon, formerly of Grinnell, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, with the Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was born on her parents' farm in Millville and remained there until her marriage to Henry Gruenhaupt May 14, 1930, in Davenport. She had attended rural Clayton County schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Gruenhaupt farmed near Lansing for two years, and from there moved to Baxter, Newton, Searsboro and, in 1944, Grinnell where they owned an acreage. Mrs. Gruenhaupt worked in the laundry at Grinnell College for several years, as a housekeeper at the former Penquite Motel and as a custodian at St. Johns Lutheran Church here. They moved to Waukon in 1977.

Surviving are one son, Lee of Waukon; one daughter, Ruth Hein of Rochester, Minn.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Charlie, Anton, Louis and Harold Troester; and three sisters, Annie Brown, Bertha Muntzel and Loretta Geick.
