MRS. MUNTZEL SERVICES HELD

Bertha Louise Muntzel, 87, of 1415 Eleventh Ave., Grinnell, died Monday morning at her home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Muntzel were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcus E. Reitz, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, and Carl L. Moser of Minneapolis, Minn., officiating. Organist was Mrs. Marvin Nothnagel. Graveside rites were conducted by Carl Moser. Burial was at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Booneville, Mo.

The daughter of Louis and Josephine Schler Troester, she was born Oct. 11, 1889, at Millville, Ia. She attended rural school near her home.

On May 8, 1918, she was married to Adolf Muntzel near Millville. The couple lived on an acreage near Booneville for 26 years. Following Mr. Muntzel's death, Mrs. Muntzel moved to Grinnell and was employed for 13 years as a housekeeper at Grinnell College. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles Troester and Anton Troester, both of Guttenburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Loretta Geick of Guttenburg and Mrs. Henry (Hattie) Gruenhaupt of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Louis and Harold Troester; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Brown.
