HELEN HAUERSPERGER
Helen M. Hauersperger, 68, of Kellogg died of congestive heart failure Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Friendship Manor.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Hinshaw, pastor of Ashton Chapel, officiating. Organist was Alice Renaud, and casket bearers were George Ahrens; Mike, Raymond and Rick Brown; Bill Hauersperger and Matt Oleson. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.
She was born June 4, 1928, in Rock Creek Township to Vernie and Lillian Staton Johnson. She was raised in the Rock Creek area and attended rural schools and Grinnell High School.
She was married to Lloyd Hauersperger May 10, 1947, in Marshalltown. The couple lived in Kellogg where she worked for Midwest Manufacturing Co. They later moved to Hickory Grove Township and farmed. She also worked in food service at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. For the past six years, the family has lived in Mariposa Township north of Kellogg.
Mrs. Hauersperger was a member of the Newburg Progress Club, the Hickory Grove Ladies Aid, the Green Grove Club and the Farm Bureau Homemkers Club.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Beverley Henry of Deep River; one son, Jerry of Grinnell; one grandson; one brother, Vernie Johnson of Kellogg; and five sisters, Joan Smith of Dothan, Ala., Betty Cheatham of Griffen, Ga., Bonnie Cowger and Mary Kudej, both of Grinnell, and Sandy Mayo of Santa Rosa, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Phyllis Azevedo.
