--Mrs. Lewis Crawford died at her home in Chester township, Poweshiek county, Saturday, May 2, 1903, at 5:50 p.m. from consumption. She had been in poor health since August when she was attacked by inflammatory rheumatism, her illness resulting in consumption. Emaline Brown was born in Tippecanoe county, Ind., August 6, 1843, being at the time of her death 59 years, 9 months and 26 days of age. She, with her parents removed to Illinois in 1869, where on March 4, 1882, she was united in marriage with Lewis Crawford. In 1890 they came to Iowa. She leaves her husband, a sister and three brothers to mourn their loss. She planned her funeral according to her desires and was conscious until the last, and expressed herself ready to go, trusting in her Saviour. Mrs. Crawford was a good neighbor and friend and all who knew her esteemed her highly, treasuring her friendship among their sweetest memories. The funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. D. Phillips of Sonora conducting them. The attendance was large, testifying to the love of the people for the departed. Burial was in Prairie View cemetery, Gilman.--Gilman Dispatch.
