OBITUARY.

MRS. E. SHADBOLT

Isabella M. Brownlie, daughter of Alexander and Agnes Brownlie, was born Sept. 17, 1848, at Long Grove, Scott county, Iowa, being 67 years, 3 months, and 14 days of age. When she departed this life, Dec. 31, 1915, angels welcomed her. She was buried with Christ in baptism at the age of 13, and held membership in the Long Grove Church of Christ until the Madison church was organized, at which time she became a charter member of that congregation. When the Grinnell church was organized she transferred her membership to it. She was united in marriage to Eliott Shadbolt in Scott county, May 14, 1873. To this union was born one son, Alexander, who resides at Corlett, Mont. The first thirty years of their married life were spent on a farm in Madison township. In 1903 they moved to Grinnell, where they since have made their home.

She was a noble Christian character, strong in faith, a blessing to her neighbors and friends; for none knew her but to love her. Down the pathway of life she scattered kind words and good deeds like fragrant blossoms whose perfume will linger long after her frail form has mingled with dust.

In her death she leaves a devoted husband, one son, Alexander, one sister, Janet Brownlie, who made her home with them, also one brother, of Davenport, Ia. When they were but twenty-one months of age she took two of her brother's children, Lottie and Lettie Brownlie, who were left motherless, and became a mother to them. They also are left to mourn the loss of one whose tender love and motherly care has been a blessing to their lives. She leaves a host of devoted friends and neighbors who sadly mourn her death, but find comfort in reviewing the Christlike deeds of her worthy life.

Religion filled her soul with peace,
Upon a dying bed;
Let faith look up,
Let sorrow cease--
She lives with Christ o'erhead.
Yes, faith-beholds where she sits
With angels clothed in white;
Our loss is her eternal gain.
She dwells in cloudless light.

Funeral services were held at the house Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. H.W. Thoreson. The body was taken to Brooklyn for burial, where Rev. W.B. Wilson was in charge of the service.

A.D. Brownlie, a brother, and A.W. Brownlie and R.K. Brownlie of Davenport, were present at the funeral.
