MARGARET CASE

Margaret Case, 85, of Grinnell died of a heart ailment Monday, Feb. 25, at St. Francis Manor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Wallace, pastor of the Chester Congregational Church officiating. Organist will be Nancy Sears.

Pallbearers will be Fred Buck, Jeffrey Loehr, Richard Meyer, and David, Gary and Marvin Pierce. Honorary bearers will be John Bennett, Merle Harris, Michael Mindrup and Farrell Siehl.

Burial will be in Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.

She was the daughter of Myron Adelbert and Edith Louisa Palmer Sears and was born Jan. 29, 1906, on the family farm in Chester Township. She attended Chester Center School and graduated from Newburg High School in 1926.

She enrolled in the former Community Hospital School of Nursing in Grinnell and later received her R.N. degree from the University of Iowa School of Nursing in 1930. She practiced private-duty nursing for several years and later was associated with the former Grinnell Community Hospital Obstetrics Department.

She was married to Virgil Leroy Case Dec. 23, 1939, at her parents' home. The couple lived in Grinnell. Mrs. Case was a member of the Chester Congregational Church, the Women's Fellowship of the church, the Iowa Nurses Association and Grinnell General Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Lois Case of Des Moines and Eileen Pierce of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, George Sears of LeRoy, Minn., and Richard Sears of rural Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985 and two brothers, Adelbert and Howard Sears.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Grinnell General Hospital Obstetrics Department, St. Francis Manor or her church.
