VIRGIL CASE SERVICES HELD

Virgil "Casey" Case, 76, of 927 West St., Grinnell, died Monday, April 29, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Wallace of the Newburg-Chester Parish, United Church of Christ, officiating. Organist was Nancy Sears.

Pallbearers were Dave Barns, Jerry Barns, Fred Grandstaff, Giles Jay, Warren Miller and Alvin Sheeler. Honorary bearers were members of the Grinnell Volunteer Fire Department. Burial was in Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.

Memorials in Mr. Case's name may be made to the Grinnell Fire Department.

The son of George Washington and Alice Luella Reaves Case, he was born on May 27, 1908, in Grinnell. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1929. He remained here, working for Iowa Southern Utilities Co. and for the Grinnell Fire Department.

On Dec. 23, 1939, he was married to Edith Margaret Sears at her parents' farm home in Chester Township. Following their marriage, they lived in Grinnell where Mr. Case was employed by the DeKalb Seed Corn Co., the Grinnell-Newburg Community School District and the city of Grinnell. He was a 50-year member of the Grinnell Volunteer Fire Department, serving from 1931 to 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children, Lois Case of Des Moines and Eileen Pierce of Grinnell; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
