HAROLD H. TICE

Harold H. Tice, 89, of 1821 Spring St., Grinnell, died Wednesday, July 27, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Wallace, pastor of the Newburg-Chester Parish, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler, and vocalist was Steve Fritz. Pallbearers were Dale, Denny, Henry and Tom Harris and Tom Sears. Burial was in Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Tice's name may be made to the Chester Cemetery and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell 50112.

He was the son of Burris L. and Mary B. Hays Tice and was born May 13, 1905, in Chester Township. He attended rural school and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1923. He later attended an engineering college in Milwalukee, Wis.

He was married to Lillie M. Harris May 26, 1928. They farmed in the Chester community for over 45 years, retiring in 1972 and moving to Grinnell in 1977.

Mr. Tice was a member of the Chester Congregational-United Church of Christ and the Farm Bureau.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Shirley Smith of Newton and Dorothy Crooks of Boone; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Margaret Swihart.
