DORIS LINDSEY

Doris Armstrong Lindsey, 87, of Silvis, Ill., formerly of Grinnell, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis.

A prayer service will be held Friday, Dec. 31, at 10:30 a.m. in Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Del Dawes officiating. Burial will take place in Hazelwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home beginning at 9 a.m. Friday.

She was born July 8, 1917, near Malcom to Elmer and Myrtle Broders Baustian. She was raised on the family farm, attended rural school and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1934.

She was married in August, 1937, to Harry Armstrong in Des Moines. The couple lived in Grinnell, moving later to Warren, Ill. Following the death of her husband in June, 1960, she moved to Moline, Ill. She was employed by John Deere Insurance as a coordinator in Moline for ten years. She was married to Russel Lindsey and they continued to live in Moline. For the past few years she has resided at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis.

She is survived by one son Jerry Armstrong of Venice, Fla.; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one sister Ruth Higdon of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; one sister Lola Sears and one brother, Donald Baustian.
