W.M. DEPOISTER DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Word has been recieved here of the death of W. Marshon DePoister, 59, a former Grinnell College faculty member, in San Diego, Calif., Jan. 8.

Dr. DePoister, who taught sociology at Grinnell from 1946 to 1954, had lived 12 years in San Diego, where he was chairman of the sociology department and of the division of behavioral sciences at United States International University's Cal Western Campus. He had also taught at various other colleges and universities, and was the author of a textbook and numerous articles on professional subjects.

He held B.A. and M.A. degrees from Phillips University, a B.D. from Vanderbilt University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

Surviving are his widow, the former Velda Murdock; two sons, David and Douglas; and a daughter, Mrs. DeAnne Fisher.
