DOROTHY PAUL POLFER

Dorothy Paul Polfer, 66, a native of Newburg, died of a heart ailment Sept. 29 in Eagle, Idaho.

A memorial service was conducted Oct. 3.

The daughter of William and Esther Paul, she was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Newburg. She was educated in Brooklyn and taught school in that area until her marriage to George Polfer July 16, 1946, in Sparks, Nev. The couple lived in Chicago until moving to Vale, Ore., in 1972 where they owned and operated the J and J Tavern until selling the business in 1978 and retiring.

Mrs. Polfer was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, George; three sons, Pete, Jeff and Bill; four daughters, Connie Schutt, Vickie Polfer, Carolee Polfer and Cheryl Polfer; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters, including Kenneth of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 96, Vale, Ore., or to the National Diabetic or Heart Association funds.
