ETTA MAE STANSBERRY POMEROY

Etta Mae Stansberry Pomeroy was born March 18, 1886 near Hedrick, Iowa and died at an Oskaloosa hospital June 20, following a short illness.

The daughter of James Harvey Stansberry and Rebecca Jane Burtlow Stansberry, she was married at Omaha, Nebraska on October 6, 1909, to William Guilford Pomeroy. Three sons were born to this union, William of Binghampton, New York, Albert, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Clyde of Temple City, California. The couple resided in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for many years but following the death of her husband, Mrs. Pomeroy finally located in Searsboro. Here she followed her profession as a trained nurse.

In addition to her sons, Mrs. Pomeroy is survived by her mother, a sister, Mrs. W.H. (Martha) Johnson of Searsboro, a half-brother, A.J. Stansberry of Fremont and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m. from the Community Friends church in Searsboro. Rev. Myrtle Lee and Rev. Annie L. Greiner officiated.

Soloist was Alfred Steen accompanied on the piano by Caroline Orcutt. Flower bearers were Mrs. Charles Chedester and Mrs. Thomas Lowry.

Pallbearers were: Ora Fudge, William Gray, Ward James, Thomas Lowry, Bob Mitchell and Jerry Sheehy.

Interment was at West Liberty Cemetery near Searsboro.
