BETTY POOLEY DIES--PNEUMONIA

Only Daughter of S.J. Pooley Passes Away Saturday Forenoon.

It was with deep sadness that the large circle of family friends learned Saturday of the death of Betty Pooley. This sweet young girl had been ill but a few days. She attended school Monday, and came home in the afternoon slightly indisposed. During the night the disease made such a rapid progress that a physician was called. The disease continued to show serious symptoms and a specialist was summoned from Des Moines, and all that medical aid could do was done to stay the dread disease but without success. The little girl continued to grow worse, passed into unconsciousness, and after much suffering death came to claim its victim.

Both John and Richard were taken seriously ill, and owing to this fact it seemed best not to hold services at the home. The funeral was held Sunday at 3:30 o'clock, starting from the house at that hour. At the grave a short service was held conducted by Mr. Vittum with a beautiful and expressive prayer by Professor Noble.

A large concourse of friends joined the family at the home, acompanying the body to the grave, in this way expressing deep sympathy for the sorrowing father.

Betty Pooley was ten years old the 21st of last August, a bright, sweet, winsome little girl, a favorite in the neighborhood and at school. Few have shown greater promise of a bright and lovely future and no one could be more missed about the home and among friends, than will the sweet and charming little girl who has so suddenly been called to the better land.
