Newspaper Obituary dated 7-11-1902

EVELINE ALICE (ADKINS) POLK
was born in Rock Creek township March 4th, 1860, married there to Mr. George T. Polk Nov. 18th, 1896, died in Denver, Colorado, July 2nd, 1902, and was buried in the cemetery in Rock Creek July 7. She filled her youth with happy memories and enjoyed her life in Iowa College and in Grinnell which embraced the time of the cyclone in 1882 when she joined the Congregational church here.

Her married life was a very happy one although it was an almost constant wrestle with consumption. Her husband's efforts to protract it by taking her to Arizona and to Colorado were only partially successful. She found the world rich in friendships for she always showed herself friendly. The love shown at the funeral Monday was noteworthy by the number in attendance, by the display of flowers and by expressions of esteem.

The interest that the college always cherishes for its students was recognized by calling on one of its officers, Prof. L.F. Parker, to officiate at the burial.
