PURDUM RITES HELD

Funeral services for Cletus Purdum were held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 3, at the Steffy Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Septer officiating. Mrs. Betty Snook was the soloist at the rites. She was accompanied by organist Miss Alice Underwood.

Casket bearers were Fred Hubbard, Carmon Johnson, Don Erquist, Wavern Briggs, Walter Hockey and Russ Talbert. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery.

Mr. Purdum died Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Grinnell General Hospital. He was 67 years old.

The son of Ben and Pearl Purdum, he was born May 12, 1912, at Dean. As a youth he was ill with polio from which he never fully recovered. He attended Garfield school. He was a member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church.

He is survived by two brothers, Dwight and Don, and a sister, Edna Rowell, all of Motnezuma, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bruce, Carroll and Mack.
