EDNA MAXINE ROWELL

Funeral services were held for Edna Maxine Rowell, 84, of Montezuma on Monday, April 9, 2001 at 1:30 pm. at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma with Rev. Howard Lord officiating. Music was provided by Mr. Neal Purdum, organist, with selections "In The Garden" and "Just A Closer Walk." Casket bearers were Bill Bushong, Dan Rowell, Mack Purdum, Mark Floden, Richard Rowell and Mark Digney. Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

Memorials may be made to Blakley-Stevens American Legion Auxiliary, Montezuma.

Edna died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2001, at the Montezuma Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Edna Maxine Rowell was born Jan. 1, 1917 at Dean, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin Thompson and Edna Pearl (Farnsworth) Purdum. She moved with her family to Montezuma at a young age and received her entire education in the Montezuma School system.

She was a member of the Christian Church and the Blakley-Stevens American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included yard work with her gardening and flowers, crafts, sewing, quilting and crocheting. She was an all-around handy woman. Edna worked at the Dime Store, Sig Manufacturing and Dicomatic Manufacturing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, in 1983; five brothers, Bruce, in infancy, Carroll, Dwight, Cletus and Mack.

Edna is survived by her family, Charles and Gail of Leesburg, Ga. and Leon and Pat of Montezuma; seven grandchildren, Tresa and Joel Vernon, Richard Rowell, Curt Rowell, Sonja Brown, Lori Cooper, Daniel Rowell and Lisa Rowell; seven great-grandchildren, Garett and Jennifer Vernon, Alex Rowell, Myles Brown, Darius Cooper, Renae Briones and Cody Rowell; one brother and his wife, Don and Germaine Purdum, Malcom; a sister-in-law, Helen Willet, Brooklyn; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.
