EDNA MCCAMMANT
Edna M. McCammant, 76, rural Malcom, died Friday, April 9, at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 12, in the Malcom United Methodist Church with the Rev. Melinda Cree, pastor of the church, officiating. Organist was Joan Schneekloth. Pallbearers were Harold Mason, James Meldrem, Jerry Smith, Roy Story, Vernon Tinkle and William Tinkle. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Grinnell or the American Cancer Society.
The daughter of William and Olive York Meldrem, she was born March 21, 1917, in Brooklyn. She attended rural schools and Brooklyn High School and Malcom High School. She was married April 5, 1938, to Ernest Story in Oskaloosa. They lived in Malcom. Mr. Story died in 1965 and on April 30, 1966, she was married to Virgil McCammant in Montezuma. They continued to make their home in Malcom where she was a member of the Malcom Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters Marlys Petersen, Chino Hills, Calif. and Marlou Story, Malcom; one son Garry D. Story, Columbus, Wis.; three stepsons Kenneth McCammant, Mitchellville, and Richard and Keith McCammant, both of Grinnell; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one sister Geneva Tinkle, Malcom. She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; one son Roger and one daughter Marcia Story and six brothers, Clifford, Ervie, Elton, Lloyd, Roy and Clarence Meldrem.
