HOLD MELDREM RITES IN HUXLEY
Clair C. Meldrem, 53, a former Malcom resident, died unexpectedly at his home in Huxley, Ia., on Friday, June 3.
Funeral services for Clair Meldrem were held at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley on Monday, June 6, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Merlin K. Norris officiated at the services. A memorial fund has been established at the church.
Born in Brooklyn on March 12, 1924, he spent most of his childhood in Malcom. He was a graduate of Malcom High School, and moved to Ames in 1944. He married Alene Warren on March 15, 1946, and was employed by the physical plant department at Iowa State University, where he was structural services supervisor for 31 years.
He is survived by his wife, Alene; a son, Gary, who lives at home; three daughters, Mrs. Steven (Marilyn) Lande of Alleman, Mr. Ralph (Leah) Oliver of Huxley, and Mrs. Dana (Barbara) Halverson of Ankeny; a brother, James, of Gilbert; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Zadie) Ross of Brooklyn, Mrs. Harold (Norma) Duffus of Grinnell, and Mrs. Paul (Merlene) Whisenand of Kelley; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Evy Meldrem, and two brothers, Lyle and Marlin.
