MR. MELDREM RITES FRIDAY

Clifford N.J. Meldrem, 75, of Kelley, formerly of Malcom, died early Wednesday at North Grand Care Center in Ames.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Malcom United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John F. Maze officiating. Burial will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

The son of William and Olive York Meldrem, he was born April 22, 1900, north of Malcom. He attended rural school near his home, later attending public school in Brooklyn.

On March 16, 1921, he was married to Evy Jane Sanders in Grinnell. The couple had seven children. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Meldrem made their home in Malcom where Mr. Meldrem owned and operated a service station. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Malcom. Mrs. Meldrem died April 11, 1962, and following her death Mr. Meldrem made his home in Huxley and Kelley.

Survivors include five children, Mrs. Richard (Zadie) Ross of Brooklyn, Claire Meldrem of Huxley, Mrs. Harold (Norma) Duffus of Grinnell, James Meldrem of Gilbert, and Mrs. Paul (Merlene) Whisenand of Kelley; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Virgil (Edna Mae) McCammant and Mrs. Alfred (Geneva) Tinkle, both of Malcom, and one brother, Lloyd Meldrem of Crestline, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evy; two sons, Lyle Laverne Meldrem and Marlyn Keith Meldrem; and four brothers, Elton, Ervie, Roy and Clarence Meldrem.
