CONDUCT SERVICES HERE TODAY FOR MINNIE ROWE, 94
Mrs. Minnie H. Rowe, 94, of 519 Broad St., died Friday evening at a local hospital following an illness of the past several months.
Funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) from the James-Schlinske Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert D. Dewey, pastor of the First Congregational church, officiating. Vocal music was provided by Mrs. Noel Taylor, accompanied by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner at the organ.
Serving as pallbearers were Harold Schmidt, Paul Worcester, Richard Dean, William Osborn, George Mowitt and Warren Miller. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
The daughter of William Henry and Ellen S. Allen McCulloch, she was born at Lamoille, Ill., on Jan. 26, 1868. She moved with her parents to Hickory Grove township, Jasper County, near Newburg, in 1869, and attended the rural schools of that area. A graduate of Teachers Normal Training School, she taught for a number of years and also was the telephone operator at Newburg for several years.
On April 6, 1889, she was united in marriage with Charles Ballard and to this union three children were born: Gladys B. Gregory, Ralph M. Ballard, both deceased; and Hazel E. Robinson of Algona.
Later, she was married to George Rowe of Kansas, who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1925. In addition to her husbands and two children, Mrs. Rowe was preceded in death by a grandchild and a great grandchild.
She is survived by her daughter, Hazel; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ralph M. Ballard of Redwood Falls, Minn.; four grandchildren, Raymond Ashing of Longmont, Colo., Floyd Ashing of Des Moines, Maxine Elmore of Algona, and Janice Anderson of Omaha, Neb.; six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
