LAST SERVICES FOR J.H. ROWE ARE HELD SUNDAY
Last services were held Sunday at Hull, Iowa, for J.H. Rowe, for many years a resident of Grinnell, who died Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Nelson, of Sheldon, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Rowe with their three daughters, Beulah, Lucile, and Irma, came to Grinnell in 1914 from Hull, and purchased the former John Evans farm by the old fair grounds so that the children might have the benefits of the educational institutions in Grinnell. After a few years of farming, the Rowes moved into the city, later occupying the house at the corner of Park street and Tenth avenue, and Mr. Rowe became associated with John Evans in the Poweshiek County Farmers' Mututal Insurance Association. He served in this position for about ten years before retiring in 1929. He left Grinnell a little over a year ago, after having lived in retirement here since 1929.
Mr. Rowe was a faithful member of the Methodist church and of the Bob Coutts Sunday School class, and joined the local Masonic Lodge while in residence here. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Lucile, Mrs. Harry Wilson of Rockwell, Iowa; Beulah, Mrs. Frank Nelson of Sheldon, and Irma, Mrs. Stanley Graham of Texas.
