JOE SILLE

Joe Sille, 79, of Newton, the father of Kay Haines of Grinnell, died Friday, Dec. 6, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with burial in Newton Union Cemetery.

The son of Dirk and Johanna Fraaken Sille, he was born April 25, 1912, east of Monroe. He attended Monroe schools.

He was married to Margaret Vander Schel Aug. 21, 1941, and farmed north of Newton from 1948 to March of this year when the couple moved into Newton. He was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Sille is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Kay Haines of Grinnell and Judy Hitchler of Newton; six grandchildren; one brother, Richard of Newton; and a sister, Betty Sille of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William; and four sisters, Jennie, Beulah, Sophia and Marie.

Memorials in Mr. Sille's name may be made to Skiff Medical Center Special Care Unit and left at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
