RITES TODAY FOR MRS. DIMIT
Lois H. Dimit, 72, of 1225 West St., Grinnell, died Friday, April 1, at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Russell, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner.
Pallbearers were Ed Brand, Dale Clark, Raymond Innis, Lester Osborn, Paul Pohlson and Cliff Strovers. Honorary bearers were Frank Brown, Harry Bitcon, Joe Clark, Robert King, Russell Sears and Lyle O. Wiley.
Burial was at Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell. Memorials in Mrs. Dimit's name may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.
The daughter of Joseph and Ada Haynes Deedrick, she was born March 16, 1911, in Sheridan Township. She attended rural school in Sheridan and Madison townships, graduating from Grinnell High School in 1930.
She was married to Merle C. Dimit on Feb. 27, 1940, in Grinnell. The couple lived here until 1946 when they moved to Newton. They returned to Grinnell in 1955.
Mrs. Dimit was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, the Farmers Union Ladies Auxiliary, and the Newton United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Karen Laughlin of Iowa City; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
