CLAYTON DIMIT SERVICES SET
Clayton V. Dimit, 73, died Tuesday, May 17, at St. Francis Manor.
Services will be held Friday, May 20, at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Lott of the United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be made to the church.
He was born July 19, 1914, in Chester Township, Poweshiek County, the son of George Vestal Dimit and Jessie Ann Doolittle Dimit. He was a graduate of Grinnell High School with the class of 1931. He farmed with his parents until 1932 when he spent four years in the United States Army. Upon his return, he began working for Cargil where he remained until his retirement in 1978.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Odd Fellows and the Elks Lodge. He was a past noble grand and past chief patriarch of the Odd Fellows and also was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a brother, Merle Dimit, Grinnell.
