RUTH DREIER MEMORIAL HELD
Ruth Ritner Dreier, 90, of the Mayflower Home died Thursday at Grinnell General Hospital.
A memorial service was conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad officiating. Mrs. Dreier's body was donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Mayflower Home.
The daughter of T.J. and Annie Murphy Ritner, she was born March 9, 1891, at Guthrie Center. She moved with her family to Atchison, Kan., and graduated from Atchison High School in 1909. She received her B.A. degree from the former Des Moines College and later taught school for two years.
On Aug. 16, 1916, she was married to William H. Dreier at Atchison. The couple farmed for 10 years near Iowa Falls and for 29 years near Hubbard.
Mrs. Dreier was a member of the Point Pleasant church near Hubbard where she taught Sunday School. She was chairwoman of the Hardin County Board of Education, a member of the Hardin County Federated Women's Club and a member of the Hardin County Farm Bureau Women. In 1947 she was named Iowa Master Farm Homemaker by the Farm Bureau. She moved to the Mayflower Home in 1959 and was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational.
Survivors include her children, William H. Dreier of Cedar Falls, Robert J. Dreier of Hubbard, Lucile Duitscher of Ames and Walter R. Dreier of St. Charles, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen and Pauline Ritner, both of the Mayflower Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandson.
