RITES HELD FOR ANDRES TONE
Andres N. (Andy) Tone, 76, of Rte. 4, Grinnell, died Saturday morning, Dec.11, at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert C. Smith of the Grinnell First Baptist Church officiating. Organist was Ed Bohstedt.
Pallbearers were Dick Emmert, Ellsworth Hudnutt, Oliver Hudnutt, Larry Innis, Ralph Lemke and Russell Winburn Jr. Honorary bearers were Raymond Bangham, Ronald Benson, Sheldon Copeland, John Craig and Art Skeie. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.
The son of Andrew and Madeline Norland Tone, he was born May 27, 1906, in Washington Township. He attended Grinnell schools.
On Sept. 24, 1946, he was married to Margaret Zorn at Topeka, Kan. The couple farmed in Washington Township southeast of Grinnell.
Mr. Tone was formerly a member of the Grinnell B.P.O. Elks Lodge and the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Grinnell.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children, Roger Close of Grinnell, Barbara Orr of Brooklyn, Charlotte Beeler of Colfax and Andrew Tone of Baytown, Texas; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Toepfer of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Bertha Shinn of Ormond Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Esther Melrose; and four brothers, Abner, Thomas, David and one who died in infancy.
