HELEN M. PULS
Helen M. Puls, 77, of Grinnell died of a stroke Sunday, Jan. 23, at St. Francis Manor.
Funeral servcies were conducted Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Herb Knudten, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Casket bearers were Arnold Baetsle, Charles Burnham, Jim Bennett, Gary Downey, Larry Ellis and Roger Osborn.
Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Grinnell to George A. and Margaret J. McKeag Skidmore. She was a 1941 graduate of Grinnell High School.
On May 17, 1941, she was married to Shirley E. Puls in Bethany, Mo. They farmed in the Sheridan Township northeast of Grinnell and moved to Grinnell in the mid-1950s.
Mrs. Puls worked at DeLong Sportswear, General Telephone Co. and in the food service of the Grinnell-Newburg School District.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Marguerite Beeler of Grinnell; one son, Dennis of Grinnell; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Downey of Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagles Building Fund.
