THOMAS JEFFREY SUCCUMBS TO HEART SEIZURE

Funeral services for Thomas S. Jeffrey, Rt. 4, Grinnell, were held at 2 p.m. Mar. 20 at the Smith Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James Robinson, pastor of the Malcom Methodist church. Mrs. Kathleen Heffner played the organ selections and accompanied Mrs. Keith Stahl, vocalist. Interment was in Pleasant township cemetery, Ewart.

Flower bearers were Mrs. Evelyn Sherwood and Mrs. Nellie Farley. Casket bearers were Elwood Burlingame, Wayne Gropper, Harvey Jensen, Maynard Raffety, Virgil Sherwood and Raymond Vogt.

Thomas ate a hearty dinner Monday, sat down in a comfortable chair and was reading the newspaper when he suffered a heart seizure. Death was immediate. A son of James and Sarah Farley Jeffrey, he was born Oct. 13, 1891, at their farm home in Pleasant twp.

He was educated in the rural schools and engaged in farming with his father. He and Irma Jacob were united in marriage at her parents' home in Washington twp., Sept. 29, 1915. Since 1938 they have made their home on a farm northwest of Malcom.

Survivors include his wife of the home, a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Doris May) Hohl, Malcom; four grandchildren, Wayne, Daryl, Muriel and Martin Hohl, Malcom; a brother, William Jeffrey, Rt. 4, Grinnell; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Thompson, Grinnell, and Mrs. Charles Peters, Rt. 4, Grinnell; other relatives and many friends.
