WILLIAM JEFFREY SERVICES FRIDAY

Services for William E. Jeffrey were held Friday, July 31, at the Steffy Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Gruneich officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Keith Stahl and Miss Nancy Gorsuch.

Casket bearers were Paul Bacon, Henry Krumm, Carmon Johnson, Paul Phillips, Ralph Reams and Paul McConnell. Honorary bearers were Leon Cook and Clifford Braley.

Burial was in Pleasant Cemetery, Ewart.

Mr. Jeffrey, 76, passed away Tuesday, July 28, at Sunny Slope Extended Care Center, Ottumwa.

The son of James and Sarah Jeffrey, he was born Feb. 22, 1894, near Ewart.

His entire life was spent in the Ewart community. He attended school near his home and later attended Brown's Business College at Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Jeffrey was a member of the Ewart United Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and Contingent Treasurer for many years. He also served in many offices of the Township. He was a charter member of the Farm Bureau of Iowa and a member of the Masonic Lodge at Malcom.

On June 5, 1930, he was united in marriage to Edna Swain of Deep River. To this union three children were born: Roger of Grinnell, Laurene Ehmke of Ottumwa and James of Deep River.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; two sons, Roger and James and their wives; daughter, Laurene, and her husband; seven grandchildren: Kimberly and Karla Jeffrey of Grinnell, Kari and Amy Ehmke of Ottumwa, and Susan, Sherri and Scott Jeffrey of Deep River; and two sisters, Mrs. Emily Thompson and Mrs. Charles Peters of Grinnell.
