DARWIN RENBARGER SUCCUMBS TUEDAY; SERVICES TODAY

Darwin F. Renbarger, 57, of Rte. 1, Grinnell, died Tuesday morning at a local hospital. He had been in ill health the past several months.

Services were conducted this afternoon (Thursday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Beebe of the Mayflower Home officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Verl Garwood, Burton Koger, Herbert Long, Burrson Farmer, Bob Daley and Ronald Long. Masonic rites were conducted by F.W. Tomasek adn members of Hermon Lodge No. 273 of Grinnell.

Interment was to be in Elmwood cemetery at Lamoille. Those desiring may contribute to the Community hospital building fund.

He was the son of Wilbur and Lottie Narber Renbarger and was born Oct. 24, 1906, at Galien, Mich. The family lived in Galien for a time and later resided at Gladbrook, Iowa, and Buffalo, S. Dak., before moving to Lamoille, Iowa, where he graduated from high school.

Following his high school graduation he worked in Marshalltown for a time and moved to the Grinnell area to farm in 1934.

On Aug. 24, 1927, at Minneapollis, Minn., he was united in marriage with Vesta Olive Buck. To this union were born two children, Betty Jean, who died in infancy, and Jerry Renbarger of Rte. 1, Grinnell.

He was a member of the Congregational church, Westfield Grange, and Hermon Lodge No. 273, AF and AM.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lottie Renbarger of Marshalltown; his son Jerry of Grinnell; two grandsons, Michael D. and Steven B. Renbarger; and a sister, Mrs. Wilda Long, of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his father; his wife Vesta, on May 10, 1960, and his daughter.
