MRS. FAIRCHILD RITES MONDAY

Lucille Fairchild, 59, of 1328 Davis Ave., Grinnell, died of a heart ailment Thursday morning, Oct. 20, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Fulbright, pastor of the Northside Friends Church, officiaiting. Organist was Alice Renaud.

Pallbearers were Roger Beason, Edward Heck, Don Henderson, Jerry L. Holcomb Jr., Robert E. Kriegel and Sheldon Thompson. Honorary bearers were Todd Hoagland, Jerry L. Holcomb Sr. and Warren Wiley.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials in Mrs. Fairchild's name may be left at the funeral home.

She was born July 9, 1929, at Burfield, Ky., and attended rural schools. She was married to Odell G. Fairchild Sept. 24, 1951, at Anderson, Ind. The couple came to Grinnell in 1953.

Mrs. Fairchild worked for six years with the Grinnell College Food Service and for four years with the housekeeping department at Friendship Manor.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Imegene A. Fairchild and Ann Henderson, both of Grinnell; two sons, Ronnie of Boise, Idaho, and Randy of Grinnell; seven grandchildren; her mother, Mae Criwell Slagle of Monticello, Ky.; and a sister, Grace Asberry of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Slagle.
