ELSIE HUNTER

Elsie Hunter, 73, of 303 East St., Grinnell, died of cancer Friday, Feb. 9, at her home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Grinnell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Del Dawes officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home begining Monday, and the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.

She was the daughter of Doc and Bertha Guffey Slagle and was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Grinnell. She was a 1946 graduate of Grinnell High School.

She was married to Floyd E. Hunter June 27, 1948, in Grinnell. She worked for DeLong Jacket Factory and in the registrar's office at Grinnell College. She also worked for the Pennysaver, The Grinnell Herald-Register and First Realty.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and a former member of the Grinnell Planning and Zoning Commission.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Perry of Edina, Minn.; one daughter, Kris Hunter of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Jean Puls of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Willard Slagle; and two sisters, Gretchen Gross and Gilma Lynch.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice, the American Cancer Society or her church.
