SERVICES HERE ON TUESDAY FOR IRENE EMMERT

Mrs. Louis (Irene) Emmert of Rte. 2, Malcom died Saturday morning at a Grinnell hospital, following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd J. Conroy, pastor of the Malcom Methodist church, officiating. Vocal music will be provided by Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stahl, accompanied by Mrs. Nellie Farley at the organ.

In charge of flowers will be Mrs. Gail Wheeler and Gladys Wisecarver. Pallbearers will be Gail Wheeler, Ernest Larson, Leslie Douglass, Raymond Schilder, Harold Murphy and Henry Rohlfing. Interment will be in Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom. Should friends desire contributions may be made to the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary.

The daughter of Kirk and Bertha Donnely Garwood, she was born on Nov. 22nd, 1907, at Vinton, Iowa. When she was 10 years old, she came to Grinnell with her parents and attended the local schools.

On May 26th, 1928, she was united in marriage with Louie Emmert at the Methodist church in Newton. Since their marriage they had farmed in the Malcom community.

She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Harmony Aid, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, and a leader in 4-H work for a number of years.

Mrs. Emmert is survived by her husband, Louie; a daughter, Patricia "Pat" Emmert of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Richard at home and Dale of Grinnell; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Murray Parker of Denver, Colo.; and two brothers, Verl and Glenn Garwood, both of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, *Charollete.
