FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. LEE EMMERT

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Chester Congregational church for Mrs. Lee Emmert, who passed away last Thursday morning. The services were conducted by Rev. H.L. Wissler. Claude Thompson, Leslie Lavender and Rev. Mr. Wissler sang three suitable selections. Pall bearers were Ted Emmert, Earl Emmert, Lowell Emmert, Everett Emmert, Harry Larimer and Albion Larimer.

Sunday morning the body was taken to Thor, Mrs. Emmert's old home. Three car loads of people went up from Chester and on their arrival found a bountiful and delicious dinner, prepared by lady friends of the family awaiting them in the home of Mrs. Emmert's father, O.H. Bakke. They appreciated fully the kindness and the cordial spirit shown to them and to the members of the sorrowing family. Following the dinner Rev. Mr. Wissler conducted funeral services in the Bakke home and burial was made in the Thor cemetery.

Gay Marie Bakke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.H. Bakke, was born at Thor, Ia., Aug. 22, 1902. She passed away at her home in Chester township, July 21st, 1932, aged 29 years, 10 months and 29 days.

June 23rd, 1925, she was united in marriage with Lee Edward Emmert. To this union was born a daughter, Betty Jean, who is now six years old.

Mrs. Emmert was a most beautiful character. In early life she received baptism and was confirmed in the Lutheran church of which her parents were members at Thor, Iowa. To this faith she remained loyal and true. During long months of suffering she maintained a patient, hopeful spirit making a brave fight to recover her health. When her strength failed and hope for recovery seemed to have left her she bravely faced the future saying "I am ready to go."

She leaves to mourn her early passing, her husband, a daughter, her father, O.H. Bakke of Thor, a brother, Edwin Bakke, also of Thor and a sister, Mrs. Roy Pohlman, of Gilman, and many friends who loved her for splendid womanly qualities of a true life.
