ALWYN CONNER SERVICES HELD

Alwyn B. Conner, 49, of Waverly, formerly of Grinnell, died Thursday, July 30, at University Hospitals in Iowa City after a brief illness of leukemia.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly, with the Revs. Walter Phelps and Daniel Ogata officiating. Burial was at the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.

The family requests that memorials be given to the church organ fund or to the Foundation for Leukemia Research.

The son of Earl and Harriet Conner, he was born Sept. 4, 1931, at Crown Point, Ind. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Northwestern University and continued his education at the University of Illinois and Devry Technical Institute in Chicago. He was studying at the University of Northern Iowa for his master's degree in music at the time of his death.

Mr. Conner lived in Grinnell from 1974 to 1978. He had served with the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Mairs Paulson; four sons, Daniel and Matthew of Waverly and Michael and David of Des Moines; and two step-daughters, Joy and Jamie Paulson of Waverly.
