FOSTER C. PUGH, 81

Foster Clinton Pugh, 81, of Keystone, and formerly of Montezuma, died on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005 at Keystone Care Center in Keystone, Iowa.

His memorial service was Saturday, Aug. 6, at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma, with the Rev. Dennis Dorsheimer officiating. Interment of cremains was at Masonic-IOOF Cemetery in Montezuma. Arrangements were by Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma. Military graveside rites were performed by the Blakely-Stevens Legion Post No. 169 of Montezuma.

Foster was born on April 7, 1924 in Grinnell. He was the son of Floyd and Lillian (Appleby) Pugh. He was a graduate of Grinnell High School in Grinnell and attended Parsons College for one year. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged on Jan. 21, 1946. On Jan. 11, 1947, he was united in marriage with Darlene Troth at Fairfield. To this union two children were born, Marilyn and Mark. The couple spent most of their lives in Montezuma. Foster was a painter and had worked for Bowers Construction. He also managed the liquor store in Montezuma for many years. He was a member of the Blakely-Stevens American Legion Post No. 169 and the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.

Foster is survived by his two children, Marilyn Schlotterbeck of Keystone and Mark (Debra) Pugh of Geneva, Ala.; four grandchildren, Matt (Amy) Monroe, Amy (Brett) Pace, Ashley Pugh and Andy Pugh; four great-grandchildren, Eric Monroe and Brennen, Landen and Megan Pace; and three siblings, Floyd J. (Anne) Pugh of Sedalia, Mo.; Mary Ann (Johnny) Harbin of Macon, Ga. and Carl Pugh of California, and many relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.
