PAUL HERROLD RITES TUESDAY

Paul H. Herrold, 67, of 1015 Chatterton St., Grinnell, died of cancer Thursday, March 15, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald F. Brown of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

Organist will be Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers will be Don Cadden, Robert Larsen, W.C. Murphy, Floyd J. Pugh, Foster C. Pugh and Harvey Quindt.

Veterans' ceremonial rites will be conducted at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The son of William H. and Goldie Snider Herrold, he was born July 6, 1916, in Des Moines. He was a graduate of Des Moines East High School and Drake University.

During World War II, Mr. Herrold served with the U.S. Air Force in Europe and Africa.

He was married to Erma L. Pugh on Feb. 19, 1950. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Grinnell where Mr. Herrold worked as an accountant for General Telephone Company of the Midwest from 1945 to 1979.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Grinnell Elks Lodge, and Focht-Tennant Post No. 53 of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Erma; three sons, Charles H. of Des Moines, Donald C. of Davenport and Bradley D. of Des Moines; one grandson; and two sisters, Ruth Smithson of Des Moines and Lois Menzel of Sioux City.
