MRS. CAROLINE HINK
------------------
Early Timer in Sheridan Township Passes to Her Final Reward After Years of Pain and Illness.

Caroline Hink, daughter of Konrad Reidasch and Wilhelmina Whittenberger, was born September 26, 1853, in the state of New York. While yet a baby her parents moved to Muscatine, Iowa, and when she was twelve they moved from Muscatine and located on a farm in Sheridan township of this county. In the year 1874 she was united in marriage with John Hink, deceased. Eleven children were born to this union. Three preceded the mother in death, two in infancy, and Mrs. Ella Peterson, who died three years ago.

While on the farm as well as in Grinnell during her retired life she toiled unceasingly, also enjoyed life and good health until six years ago when cancer set in for which two operations only lenghthened her days. This caused her much pain and was hard to bear. Of late years she longed to die and be relieved.

Mrs. Hink was a devout member of the Lutheran faith, and was remembered by relatives and friends while sick at home and hospital. The best of care was rendered her that loving hands could give. Her daughter, Hattie, was with her constantly and was her chief helper and companion during the long years of her illness and did much to soothe her suffering. Her hour of relief in death came June 26, at 2:30 o'clock in the morning. For the last weeks, her weakened condition rejected food except liquids or water. A day before her demise while conscious she prayed to God to receive her soul. At her death she had reached the age of 69 years, and 9 months.

The mourners are four brothers: George Reidasch, South Range, Wis., Chas. Reidasch, Corinth, Miss.; Henry Reidasch, Grinnell; and Fred Reidasch of Dows, Iowa. Eight children survive: Mrs. Mattie Kaisand, Mrs. Katharine Jantzen, Mrs. Frances Deedrick, Mrs. Sylvia Berry, and Hattie and Harry Hink of Grinnell, Mrs. Minnie Lemke, of Elk River, Minn., and John Hink, of Tama. The grandchildren number thirty and the great-grandchildren 5.

The funeral was held Thursday, June 28th, from the home at 1 o'clock and from the German Lutheran church at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. O.C. Bierman conducted the services. Interment was made in the German Lutheran cemetery.

Pall bearers were: Erik Erickson, Frank Kelm, Wm. Zirbel, Chas. Booknau, Chris. Schultz, Henry Oltrogge.
